Tomorrow's Big Name

Already boasting Karl Lagerfeld, no less, on his client list, Husam El Odeh is the name to know if you're taking on the jewelry scene. First discovered by Lulu Kennedy and her Fashion East star-finding initiative in 2005, he collaborated with Marios Schwab for spring/summer 2008 and the result were these very unique pearl ear cuffs that should be worn hooked over the ear and worn behind the ear rather than in front.

WANTED: 'IT' Accessories

Nothing completes a stunning ensemble then AMAZING ACCESSORIES! From Huge Bolster Necklaces to Fingerless gloves you're be tickled pink with all these fab pieces....

Zac Posen's take on the Chandelier Earring

Huge chandelier styles (that wound down and round the neck, morphing into extravagant necklaces) at Zac Posen are perfect for the upcoming seasons! (In my book dolls chandelier earrings are never a faux pas)! Adorning your ears is the way to go. The bigger, the better - just be sure to scrape back hair or style it into an (equally sizable) quiff to get the full effect.

Giles Deacon Graphic Earring

"Make it graphic, make it fun," said Giles when describing his jewelry (we here at LPB couldn't agree more!) - which has resulted in a collection of solar system-inspired black and white pieces, often fashioned into skulls, ring pulls, and safety pins. These pieces are perfect for day-to-night looks!

Jil Sander's Spear-like earrings

"Sophisticated, luxurious and ultra modern" is how Jil Sander creative director Raf Simons describes the new jewelry collaboration between the minimalist label and Italian jewellery brand Damiani. Launched at Milan Fashion Week, the limited collection of fierce African tribal-influenced, spear-like earrings and bracelets features diamonds, aquamarines, amethysts, smoky quartz, topaz, onyx and Tahitian pearls set in yellow, pink and white gold. These pieces are NOT for the tame of heart!

Christopher Kane's Swarovski Bolster Necklace

The Bolster necklace that Christopher Kane produced in collaboration with Swarovski straight after his first headline-grabbing show - for spring/summer 2006 - is still selling out. This luxurious adornment can be literally be worn with everything! It comes in an array of colors so you can have your pick with this "It -piece" - It will certainly set you back a few coins but it's well worth it!

Lanvin Faux Pearl & Chain Necklace

Lanvin's twisted-rope faux-pearl necklace encapsulates Alber Elbaz's bird-of-paradise ready-to-wear theme and continues these jewels' long association with the house: its founder, Jeanne Lanvin, was rarely photographed without them. How better to pay homage?".... This work of art complete with steely chain, wispy feathers, bejewelled, & enameled beads is such a dream ticket item!

Fiona Paxton Statement Necklace

Formerly the head print designer for Chloe, Armani and Moschino, RCA-grad Fiona Paxton launched her debut jewelry collection for autumn/winter 2008-9. Its Twenties glamour combined with intricate Indian artistry makes it unsurprising that she's such a hit with fashion's front line. Prices start at £120 and the collection is set to expand next season - make sure you're the first with one of her first. Available at Selfridges & Kabiri.

Its No Name Periodic Ring

Part P.Diddy-knuckle duster, part-brainy chic, the Its No Name rings produced by a Brooklyn husband-and-wife design duo are kitschy - and deliciously heavy - enough to catch on. Choose from 14-carat yellow gold, sterling silver or solid platinum and each one is stamped with the periodical table symbol, atomic number and mass that you'll (possibly), remember from the chemistry lab at school. These pieces work for both doll or gent so run out and get em!
Don't let all these numbers let you forget to check the price, though... A silver one will set you back in the region of $200+, while the platinum is $6,000. Visit for more information.

Fafafa Ring

Eye-popping color is big for Fall and if it's making you nervous, begin gently with a Fafafa ring. With Paul Smith and BCBG on her CV, designer Vibe Harslof has the style credentials and these rings, which retail for $70 and come in purple, lime, orange, red and turquoise, are a gorgeously easy start to your fall/winter season with color. Available at

Matina Amanita's Manhattan Ring

Matina Amanita's 14-piece Globetrotters collection of cocktail rings draws inspiration from some of the world's most endearing landmarks, translating their architectural brilliance into creations of equally majestic gorgeousness. Rendered in gold-plated silver, semi-precious stones and glass, you'll never look at the Chrysler building - or your local bar - in the same way again.

Reglisse Sparkle Ring

Pascale Karam-Boemond proves her knowledge of the best of the best in jewellery designers with short films at - featuring the expertise of stars such as Oscar de la Renta accessory designer Philippe Ferrandis and Peggy Huyn Kinh. And her own talent isn't to be scoffed at, either. This Reglisse crystal ring could be yours for $330.

Jonathan Saunders for ATELIER SWAROVSKI

Jonathan Saunders certainly has a few strings to his bow - two shows on the international catwalks, and now his third collection in collaboration with ATELIER SWAROVSKI will launch exclusively at Kabiri on October 13. The graphic nine-piece range combines architectural and industrial references in a palette of black, white, gold and soft aqua. Making use of the intricate Swarovski pointillage technique, pieces include cylindrical and circular pendants, rings and leather bracelets.

Lara Bohinc Saturn Honeycomb Bracelet

This collection was inspired by the hexagon-shaped atmospheric patterns that occur on Saturn, translating this unusual weather condition through the use of these shapes ~ these shapes make up the cutest pieces that should be worn day or night! With it's rich color palette the pieces can be worn with anything....

Fingerless Gloves by Louis Vuitton

They're tipped as the next big accessories trend so make sure you get your hands into a pair of fingerless gloves. We're coveting this hot pink pair from Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2009 collection which, adorned with delicate trinkets, are elegant as well as practical. Toughen up a figure-hugging dress with them or wear with a retro bomber jacket.

Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear
Christian Dior

With some of the collections this season having been judged relatively tame and commercial because of the credit crunch that is hitting every headline possible all over the world, we were relying on John Galliano's Dior show to shake us out of morose recession-inspired musings and give us plenty to dream about.

But he rarely gives us what we expect of him, and having been accused of over doing the showmanship occasionally in the past, Galliano has made it his business to prove he makes real clothes for really rich women to wear - as well as to daydream about.

If the recession means we'll be buying less but we'll be buying what have now become "investment" pieces, the Dior customer has plenty of potential to spend next summer. Short sleeved jackets in black snakeskin or sticky looking white alligator were nipped at the waist by matching wide belts, the weighty feel of the leather balanced by flirty little chiffon skirts in pleats of white or tiered, transparent black. An occasional splash of leopard spots on a sleeveless chiffon dress continued the Amazonian theme, while long, tanginess-shaped hairpieces compounded the feeling that a team of the world's most scarily beautiful women had rampaged into the Tuilleries.

It was fun and flesh-baring with chiffon mini dresses of fuchsia, orange, raspberry, pink, blue and green expertly gathered close into the body, while corresponding minis in pale pastels proved Galliano was covering every possibility.
There were showstopper jewels and coins smothering sexy halter neck dresses that had a harder attitude when studded in gold, while frothy layered chiffon showed true craftsmanship as well as adding a more romantic mood and a finale of full-length dresses that, floating in clouds of colored chiffon from double buckles at the neck, put bondage up against light femininity once again.

Galliano is still undoubtedly fashion's favorite showman, despite the commercial potential of this collection. He took his bow - after a suitably starry lights down, drum rolling, strobe lit pause - with a seductive smile and a better hip wiggle than any of his models, his glossy golden locks combed straight down his leather-clad back yet again he proved that he's still king of the fashion jungle.

Jenden Eyes by Nathan Jenden

Good news for eyewear addicts, Nathan Jenden, Diane Von Furstenberg creative director and Central Saint Martins graduate, is set to release his first collection of sunglasses in time for the sunshine of spring/summer 2009. The playful five-piece range is a fusion of modern glamour and hip-hop attitude and features retro frames with flat bows and crystals in a palette of black, pink and white.

L'Wren Scott Spring/Summer 2009

RED carpet favorite L'Wren Scott delivered a collection that was distinctly avian-flavoured today to a front row that included Sarah Jessica Parker, Ellen Barkin and Rachel Feinstein Currin.
In a palette that consisted almost exclusively of black, white and grey, Scott tried to inject some volume into the collection entitled Zephyr after the God of wind. Her trademark, lean lines were in evidence albeit with a fluffy, feathered edge – a marabou trim here, a feathered Stephen Jones trilby there.
Among our list of "loves" (which also included the aforementioned hats) were the organic prints that popped up in the so-tailored-you might-not-be-able-to-breathe dresses.
There was a striking, organic-looking lace print on a demure boat-necked dress, belted in red patent leather, that would look quite at home in Victoria Beckham's wardrobe and a feathery looking print on a nipped and tucked cocktail dress that is bound to pop up at a film premiere in the near future.
And as for the accessories? Worn by the bouffant-haired and smoky-eyed ladies, we were particularly taken with the lace-up, cut-out heels.
L'Wren Scott played with a lot of textures, feathers, laser cut out on the shoes, the looks were very modern but understated looks you could wear on an everyday basis (granted you have the personality to pull it off...that's another story!)

The blackened gold collar wraps organically around the neck and is covered in tiny white and brown diamonds and sapphires. Flowers - which open and close - contain dazzling ruby hearts, while an extremely rare 15 carat lilac sapphire is at the hidden among the thorns of the setting and can be removed and worn as a pendant.

BOUCHERON has finally revealed Shaun Leane to be the jeweler behind the latest collaboration in a succession of high-profile partnerships to celebrate the luxury label's 150th anniversary - a one of a kind necklace.

For the dramatic piece, Leane took inspiration from one of Boucheron's muses: Mystery. The evening-flowering Queen of the Night bloom, inspired the delicate, blackened gold flowers that are embedded with rare white and brown diamonds and sapphires, which can open and close - just like the flower itself - with the help of hidden buttons.

"I was also inspired by the Countess of Castiglione who lived as a recluse but was also a famous femme fatale," said the Hatton Garden-trained jeweler of his creation. "She was alleged to have had beautiful eyes that changed color between blue and violet, so I used an extremely rare 15 carat lilac sapphire in the setting that can be removed and worn as a pendant."

The necklace was unveiled at a super-exclusive party at the Boucheron store in Mayfair, which saw 30 teams made up of editors-in-chiefs, fashion personalities and Boucheron's VIP clientele race around London on a treasure hunt to win £100,000 worth of jewelry.

Soylent Green is Balenciaga

Sci-fi costumes courtesy of Nicolas Ghesquière? It doesn't require a stretch of the imagination, especially given the Balenciaga designer's Spring collection shown last week in Paris. On October 24 and 25, this hypothetical will be realized--French visual artist (and designer of Balenciaga boutiques) Dominique Gonzalez Foerster will be presenting a performance installation at the Guggenheim Theatre, complete with dresses by Balenciaga. The performance will be based on Soylent Green, an iconic science fiction film from the 70s. Ghesquière himself has designed the costumes-and will be attending final rehearsals.

Get the Buzz with Estée Lauder

Estée Lauder has
introduced a mascara that
vibrates during application to give
clump-free individual lash coverage.
The new Turbolash gadget might sound daunting, but there is a method to the madness - the tiny oscillations allow the brush to comb through lashes rapidly, whilst simultaneously separating and coating them with Estée's rapid-release gel formula.
