As a designer Madeleine Vionnet pioneered the process of draping; inventing the bias cut and making dresses from one piece of fabric thus liberating women from the corset. Sophia Kokosalaki helmed the re-emergence of the label in 2006 and Vionnet was designed by an in-house team following her successor, Mark Audibet's departure in 2008.
Marzotto is currently president of the Italian State Tourist Board and has several other investments in the fashion and luxury goods sector. Having moved its headquarters to Milan, Vionnet will present its first Vionnet collection, including ready-to-wear and accessories, this coming June. Former Prada womenswear designer Rodolfo Paglialunga assumes the role of creative director following the buy out.
