Ohhh woowee!

Mon Petites, while I know some may view fashion editors/stylist as uber non-stop shoppin’, 8'inch pump-wearin’, couture-lovin’ fashion-editor cliché, I have to confess that I absolutely love playing with toys and gadgets - most importantly robots. Interactive Robotics that entertain my team and myself for hours of fun when styling/blogging/designing gets to be too much (and it happens often). Our current obsessions are a statuesque glamazon who dances non stop—the 1 name wonder Femisapien™ and her fast talking companion Tri-Bot™ whose on board driving games and hilarious alarm mode keeps us in stitches!

The next time you feel overwhelmed, stressed and just in need of some carefree fun grab a Robotics and let it rip! Remember Dolls, toys aren't just for Kids!

The Femisapien™ & Tri-Bot™ - sold separately are available at woowee.com

Changing health habits is challenging when there are so many easy ways to veer off course after and during being diagnosed with a long-term illness or medical condition. After being diagnosed in 2007, Katherine Pierce created this compact organizer as an all-in-one tool to help the recently diagnosed and their loved ones take charge of their experience (it's truly a invaluable - my grandmother suffers from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and it's such a priceless jewel!). This durable journal takes the user from appointment to appointment, helps track finances, health insurance, and other important medical information, and offers a personal place to journal about the user’s unique experience. Easy to carry and simple to use, The Wellness Journal (Chronicle Books) is an essential resource when communicating with doctors, a guidebook for scheduling and family finances, and most important, a place for personal solace.

2 Lucky Winners will win a copy of THE WELLNESS JOURNAL (Chronicle Books) Send LPB an email with "Cheers To My Health" in the subject line, your name and address and you will be entered to win the amazing book! The Art of Isabel Samaras: On Tender Hooks

Absorbing fantasy worlds, fairytale, eroticism, and adding her own dash of art-historical figuration and contemporary pop culture, Isabel Samaras broaches new terrain with On Tender Hooks: The Art of Isabel Samaras (Chronicle Books). On Tender Hooks is the 1st monograph examining Samaras' stellar drawings, paintings and vintage lunchboxes - each piece showcasing her work with layers of reference that range from Renaissance landscape, the Old Masters, Neoclassical portrait painting to eroticism and fantasy, in the beautiful tome we see works Samaras combines with pop-cultural images as ground from which to make her quirky, sexy, pop-surrealist art carefully executed leaps into fantasy. Samaras' series includes depictions of homoerotic superheroes, inter-species romance, and some of our favorite television characters depicting mythological & legendary art creations. Samaras paints her characters with a masterful, glow reminiscent of the Old Masters and renders the entire pieces from the background depictions with a care that evokes some of the world's finest illustration. As such, this volume constitutes an enticing dossier on Samaras' encyclopedic exploration of various subjects and reproduces it entirety with the utmost perfection. This book is for lovers of art, fairytale and lowbrow luxe!

Gareth Pugh ... Man of the Hour

Just when it seemed like the good old days of rebellious British eccentricity were over, along comes Gareth Pugh, a lad from dour, post-industrial Sunderland, and he sent out a graphic silhouettes in black, gray, and hematite concoctions that made me salivate with delight!
The collection of outstandingly constructed black and pewter looks intricately pieced together in quilted pieces, textured materials and voluminous shapes with his already established influential shape—all those big, swathed, cowl-like necklines he's known for made the collection of only 24 looks a standout!

The designer's new silhouette—falling away in a pleated-back A-line from a small shoulder—was the direct inverse of the triangular shape that made his name. It gave a swirling, capelike volume to coats and jackets. The new trouser shape—high-waisted, with a full pant that covered Pugh's platformed footwear—also amplified the volume moving around the body.
(The shoes themselves looked like snub-snouted devil dogs; they almost seemed to be grinning evilly.).....Bravo GP

Tomes to Treasure............

Light, bright and impossibly lovely, jewels make a bold statement in any occasions! Here's 2 tomes that showcase some of the worlds most dazzling adornments!

As the name implies, this book is a heartfelt love letter to a jewelry house without equal. Epitomizing luxury for over a century, Cartier’s devotees have included the global elite, as well as sirens of stage and screen. Originally a jeweler of kings, Cartier is often dubbed “the king of jewelers.” Renowned for its craftsmanship and exquisite materials, the marque is a byword for opulent innovation.

Art directed and edited by Bruce Weber, this dazzling homage combines photographs created by Weber just for the book, original texts by Weber and Ingrid Sischy, along with a fascinating cornucopia of archival images and passages. The distinctively gold-bordered, red cover is designed to look like a Cartier jewelry box—right down to the authentic Cartier ribbon sewn into each binding.

Fabergé, Tiffany, and Lalique is known for having sensuous forms, dramatic imagery and vivid symbolism selection of unusual works–inluding glassware, paintings, jewelery, and fashion designs–that highlight both the technical and aesthetic aspects of these luxury masterminds. Artistic Luxury is not just another showcase of Lalique, Tiffany and Fabergé art nouveau glories, this catalog includes beautifully detailed photographs and an indepth look at the decadent work to that of the 3 jewel luminaries and contextualize each brand's work within the creative arts of the time. They show how Lalique, Tiffany and Fabergé creativity was situated among the arts, poetry, and literature of the day, and how they used other art forms to effect a stylistic renewal of jewelery that is still treasured. With stunning images and authoritative essays, this monograph illuminates the full range of this ingenious craftsman.

High & Haute!

Thigh-grazing leather feels spot-on for fall

Powerful, sexy, and slightly hard-core, high & thigh high boots make a fierce and unexpected statement for fall (yes kids I always think a season ahead). This bondagesque trend debuted—ever so briefly though unforgettably—on the Givenchy runway and has since made an appearance in almost every fall 2009 show. I've fallen in love with rock-star-worthy boots paired with a crisp white shirtdress and a trim black blazer, creating the ideal balance of polished cool and edgy sex appeal. Worn with skinny jeans and a shrunken jacket, the look becomes more daytime than dominatrix—giving you even more bang for your buck. Here's a few of my faves so far..

Christian Louboutin
