The world is going mad over Tom Ford's triumphant return to womenswear (myself included) but darling I must admit I'm still daydreaming about Jean Paul Gaultier's FW2010 CTR filled with turbans, deconstructed trench coats, dresses worth salivating over and quite frankly everything I want to be when I grow up!
Jean Paul Gaultier (along with YSL & Alexander McQueen) were the sole reason I pursued fashion all those years ago and when I have moments of not being inspired it's his designs I always gravitate towards to reaffirm why I've dedicated my life's purpose to la mode.
Being the most Parisian of French fashion designers JPG gives me that chicness that only the true masters can bring to fruition.
From the rich colors to the exquisite details and accessories these looks summons an era of yesteryear while evoking the modern trends of today.
This visual seriously took my breath away... the sweetheart neckline to the masked turban....genius!The construction of this dress and the ingenious use contrast of materials
The jacket with black mink cone breasts (and a butt to match) also revived an iconic moment while this look is purely editorial I can appreciate and admire his craftsmanship to detail. For reasons unknown JPG isn't known for his mastery of using leathers and furs - mon petites he is a force to be reckoned with and this dress is a testament to that.
The designer's wide-ranging playlist: jackets with squared-off shoulders, showgirl lingerie, va va voom jumpsuits and day glow dresses are so absolutely amazing...
Sharp shoulders, body hugging silhouettes and pure on drama was on his menu for the collection and mon petites he delivered!
The lines and drapery of this dress along with the rich hue is a feast for the eyes.
Dita Von Teese closed the show revealing Gaultier for La Perla... fantastic!
Catch the two-tone shoes...
Thanks Jean Paul...
