Camera Ready

Photo: Luca Cannonieri /
Mon petites it's holiday season! And with that comes endless holiday fetes, photo ops and the constant need to be 'camera ready' at all times. I am sure some of you are thinking that to give good 'face' one needs a smokey eye or truck loads of make up - wrong! While there is nothing like an amazing beat it's refreshing to just enhance your natural beauty. This holiday season try a glowing bare face with emphasis on the brows and lips. Slick your mane back, spritz yourself with an intoxicating fragrance and don't forget a killer manicure and you will definitely turns heads!  Here's some time tested tools to achieve just that ...

Clockwise from right: Brow-ssiere Brow Gel $16, Push-Up Brow Highlighting Pencil $22,Boom Boom Brow Brush $11, Brow "Boostier" Powder $22

Ladies take a cue from makeup artists and swap eye shadow for brow powder this season, creating dramatic yet natural arches—a look that dominated all the runways. Like the photo above from Donna Karan's S/S 2012 RTW make your brows the focal point on the face. The tools needed: Boom Boom Brow Bar's amazing selection of Brow powders, gels, brush and highlighting pencils that will ensure you have the most beautifully shaped brows. The products are uber rich and will create the most dynamic brows yet.

LPB Tip: Unlike with pencils - brow powders give you more control, so you can go soft or dark with just a stroke so be mindful!

Clockwise from top: Zoya Nail Polish | Sloane $8 , Qtica Intense Cuticle Repair Balm $16, Zoya Color Lock System $48
Dark nails are perfect for the holiday season's endless party, the deep rich tones will complement any complexion. But while deep colors are a true statement of elegance, they can also be unforgiving. You need to take a little extra care to make sure the look is  flawless. We suggest using Zoya's Color Lock System, Qtica's Intense Cuticle Repair Balm and a luxurious nail lacquer like Zoya's Sloane - a purple so deep you will be instantly feel like a royal!

LPB Tip: Dark colors call attention to ragged cuticles, so moisturize yours daily with a cuticle cream or oil. Reapplying topcoat every four days will also help protect your haute nails. To remove polish, saturate a cotton ball with remover (with Zoya's  Remove Plus Nail Polish Remover - don't worry about wasting the product - the pump dispenser will make it a breeze!) and press it on the cuticle area for three seconds, then wipe toward the end of the nail. Avoid using a circular motion—straight up and down is less messy.

The ponytail is classic: It's easy, elegant, and unfussy—and a woman always feels  effortlessly chic when she's wearing one (a neat one - not the frumpy, boring gym hair who cares pony!). There's a science to creating the perfect ponytail and since it is the season to give we are sharing with you are tips:

LPB Tip:  To dress up your ponytail for evening, spray your mane with Redken's Shine Flash 02 . Tilt your head back 45 degrees and smooth your hair into place with a brush. Keep the ponytail a bit loose—you don't want it too severe. Finish by wrapping a strand of hair around the elastic and secure it with a bobby pin. Then forget about your hair; that's the beauty of this style.

From left to right: Josie Maran Argan Lip Treatment $18, Mally Beauty Ultimate Performance Lipcolor System $25, Mally Beauty Lip Brush $15
Lips, lips, lips! The burgundy shade on the models' mouths at the Donna Karan show was so striking, we can't wait to try this look on Christmas Eve! We can not get enough of Mally Beauty's Ultimate Performance Lipcolor System - you will literally be shocked as to how how easy it is to wear the lipcolor system—full on color and literally no wavering it's a dream come true!

  • Find your perfect shade. When it comes to lipstick, there's no science to choosing a shade. Try both blue-based and orange-based reds. If a shade works well, your whole face will come alive. If it doesn't, you will look as though the color has been drained out of you.
  • Richer is better. The prettiest reds are opaque, but not overly matte, with a slight sheen. Long-wearing formulas tend to be sticky and heavy. Instead, look for one that goes on dark, not sheer. The more pigment it has, the less often it will need to be reapplied.
  •  Be prepared. Before you put on red lipstick, use a toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips. Then dab on a touch of lip balm; just make sure it's not too slick or glossy. Use a liner in the exact same shade as the lipstick to lightly trace the shape of your lips. If you can't find an exact match, go a tad lighter, but never, ever darker.

LPB Tip: Before you start working on your face  prime your lips with the Josie Maran Argan Lip treatment - it will moisturize your lips to ensure you won't have any flaking. Last but not least - go old school ladies! To avoid the red-on-the-teeth look,  do the old time and true trick of sticking a finger in your mouth, then slowly pulling it out to get rid of any excess color.

Marni at H&M for Spring, Oh My!

Consuelo Castiglioni, Founder & Creative Director of MARNI

In 1994 Consuelo Castiglioni wanted a side project to her husband's fur business, so she started turning out unconventional coats that treated fur in a contemporary way, as a fabric: dyeing it, doing it without a lining, with just a little bit of string to close it - pieces that reinvented the way one wore furs. As it happens Castiglioni needed clothes to show beneath said furs—and lucky for us she embarked on producing gorgeous prints in clashing colors, comfortable but odd-fitting shapes, billowy tunics, sport leggings with clunky shoes. Pieces that are so personalized you would think it's made especially for you - needless to say Marni is the standard for all things artsy and Italian, an eclectic vision of bohemian chic that just works!   Few labels have as clearly defined an image as Marni - so it's no suprised the brand has teamed up with Fashion house H&M to produce a soon to be iconic designer collaboration for Spring.  Available from March 8,  2012  Marni for H&M, will be up for grabs (literally) in over 250 stores worldwide and online, the collection features both clothing and accessories, all at H&M’s prices.

H&M is synonymous with affordable as well as up-to-date and high quality fashion so it makes sense that for their latest designer collaboration they joined forces with Marni - a brand that is not only trendy, it has evolved into a major trendsetter, spawning an endless number of imitators looking to copy its magical hodgepodge - thanks to H&M you won't have to break the bank to own a piece from the luxurios line.

The H&M + Marni hybrid—athletics and luxury, in this case—is just want our wardrobes need. The finely honed expression of the Marni signature at H&M prices has added new meaning to the notion of fast fashion - you won't have to sacrifice on the luxe while indulging in the lates mode.

For both the mens and womenswear collection expect polarizing print and color combinations, surreal silhouettes, rich fabrics and everything else that will make that will make this collaboration the perfect willful, eccentric spirit to your spring wardrobe.

With legions of faithful Marni acolytes from celebrities, artists to haute dolls and gents in the know the collaboration with H&M  will surely be paragon for spring - the absolutely perfect way to blossom (at wallet friendly prices) for the new season. Let the countdown begin.
