In Karlheinz Weinberger’s gripping monograph, Rebel Youth (Rizzoli New York) , the late Swiss photographer brilliantly captures Swiss teens from the ‘60s with compelling rockabilly style. Weinberger who considered himself somewhat of an  émigré   was fixated with the  disaffected youth of the postwar era , James Dean - Rebel Without A Cause laissez-faire style of his working-class subjects in Zurich.  Edited by Bruce Hacknew, Martynka Wawrzyniak and Patrik Schedler the book is an opus of style.

The amalgamation of American pop culture fashion with their own DIY accents.  The Halbstarke youth made ostentatious belt buckles, layering and  denim look so haute, in a such a way that was effortless - Olivier Rousteing (Balmain), the boys at Dsquared2 and just about everyone in fashion would be salivating for an ounce of la mode from this group of entrancing delinquents. In honor of Weinberger’s illustrious tome and the  resurgence of denim, we here at LPB have put together a few haute inspired by the youth he captured so vividly.
